Electricity is the foundation of modern development. It lights classrooms for evening study, keeps vaccines cold in clinics, powers small businesses and keeps families safe after dark. Yet for many households in Talensi, firewood remains the primary cooking fuel, and reliable power is still out of reach.
The Assembly's energy agenda is twofold: connect more communities to the national grid, and promote cleaner, safer cooking alternatives.
Progress on the Ground
Through the National and Rural Electrification Programmes and Common Fund support, quite a number of communities within the district have already been connected to the national grid. The momentum is real, and priority is given to communities that remain off-grid.
- A growing number of rural communities connected through the national grid.
- Ten (10) fuel stations in operation serving Talensi and the Bolgatanga municipality.
- Five (5) additional fuel stations at various stages of construction.
- Promotion of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to reduce dependence on wood fuel.

It enables irrigation and agro-processing that raise farm incomes, powers classrooms that keep children learning into the evening, and keeps health facilities running essential equipment. Way Forward
The Assembly continues to work with grid operators and the Common Fund to bring power to every corner of Talensi, while also championing clean-energy alternatives for cooking. Trade, education and health all stand to gain as the district brightens.
