Talensi District Inaugurates Blue Water Guards to Safeguard Water Resources

July 2026

The Talensi District Assembly has successfully inaugurated the Talensi District Blue Water Guards, marking a significant milestone in the district's collective efforts to protect its water bodies and promote responsible environmental stewardship.

The initiative brings together stakeholders committed to safeguarding the Kulubiliga River and other water resources from the threats posed by illegal small-scale mining and pollution. The guards will work alongside the Assembly, the Environmental Protection Agency and mining companies to ensure that economic activity does not compromise water security.

"Protecting our water is protecting our future. The Blue Water Guards are the sentinels of our rivers."
